Set Apart, Holy, Sanctified?

Lev 20:7-8  So set yourselves apart to be holy, for I am the LORD your God.  8  Keep all My decrees by putting them into practice, for I am the LORD who makes you holy.

Act 13:2-4  One day as these men were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Dedicate Barnabas and Saul for the special work to which I have called them.”  3  So after more fasting and prayer, the men laid their hands on them and sent them on their way.  4  So Barnabas and Saul were sent out by the Holy Spirit. They went down to the seaport of Seleucia and then sailed for the island of Cyprus.

To be made holy or set apart is to be prepared for a specific use. Any other use is a desecration of what has been made holy. Another term that is used along with this is the term, “Sanctify”, or “sanctification.”    As God’s children we are all set apart, made holy, for His use.

Sometimes there is a process to totally prepare us for the moment, or moments of use.  What you have been through, what you are going through, could it be that Father is or has been setting you apart, making you holy, sanctifying you for a specific use?

Today think of God as JEHOVAH-M’KADDESH: ”The Lord Who Sanctifies” Lev. 20:8. “To make whole, set apart for holiness.”

1Pe 1:13-19  Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;  14  as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance;  15  but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,  16  because it is written, “BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.”  17  And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear;  18  knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,  19  but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

Love in Christ,
