Declared Innocent

Jeremiah 23:5 “For the time is coming,”  says the Lord,”when I will raise up a righteous descendant  from King David’s line. He will be a King who rules with wisdom. He will do what is just and right throughout the land. 6 And this will be his name: `The Lord Is Our Righteousness.’ In that day Judah will be saved, and Israel will live in safety.
JEHOVAH-TSIDKENU  ”The Lord Our Righteousness”  From “tsidek” (straight, stiff, balanced – as on scales – full weight, justice, right, righteous, declared innocent.) God our Righteousness.
Declared innocent. Imagine you are standing before the Judge of the universe. In His presence there is no need for an accuser to point out your sins. The fire of His gaze illuminates your memory and every sin you ever committed burns in the forefront of your thoughts. There is an overwhelming flood of guilt and shame.
Off to the side of the Judges bench someone reads from a book a name… your name. The book is the Lamb’s Book of Life.  And then as quickly as they lit up your sins burst into a bright white hot flame and are consumed and you hear the Judge say, “Innocent.”
Romans 8:1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.
Thank You, JEHOVAH-TSIDKENU, for shedding your blood as the penalty for my sin.

Good Shepherd

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. 2 He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. 3  He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. 4 Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. 5 You prepare a feast for me  in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. 6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. (NLT)

John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. 30 The Father and I are one.” (NLT)

Today dwell on God as your Shepherd, your good Shepherd. Trust Him to lead you.

God is better at leading you than Satan is at deceiving you.         -Dennis Chasteen

Listen to Him. Trust Him. Follow Him.

John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.” -Jesus

Set Apart, Holy, Sanctified?

Lev 20:7-8  So set yourselves apart to be holy, for I am the LORD your God.  8  Keep all My decrees by putting them into practice, for I am the LORD who makes you holy.

Act 13:2-4  One day as these men were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Dedicate Barnabas and Saul for the special work to which I have called them.”  3  So after more fasting and prayer, the men laid their hands on them and sent them on their way.  4  So Barnabas and Saul were sent out by the Holy Spirit. They went down to the seaport of Seleucia and then sailed for the island of Cyprus.

To be made holy or set apart is to be prepared for a specific use. Any other use is a desecration of what has been made holy. Another term that is used along with this is the term, “Sanctify”, or “sanctification.”    As God’s children we are all set apart, made holy, for His use.

Sometimes there is a process to totally prepare us for the moment, or moments of use.  What you have been through, what you are going through, could it be that Father is or has been setting you apart, making you holy, sanctifying you for a specific use?

Today think of God as JEHOVAH-M’KADDESH: ”The Lord Who Sanctifies” Lev. 20:8. “To make whole, set apart for holiness.”

1Pe 1:13-19  Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;  14  as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance;  15  but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,  16  because it is written, “BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.”  17  And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear;  18  knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,  19  but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

What Does Your Banner Say?

Waaaaaah! or GOD ON THE BATTLEFIELD!

Exo 17:1-16  At the LORD’s command, the whole community of Israel left the wilderness of Sin and moved from place to place. Eventually they camped at Rephidim, but there was no water there for the people to drink.  2  So once more the people complained against Moses. “Give us water to drink!” they demanded. “Quiet!” Moses replied. “Why are you complaining against me? And why are you testing the LORD?”  3  But tormented by thirst, they continued to argue with Moses. “Why did you bring us out of Egypt? Are you trying to kill us, our children, and our livestock with thirst?”  4  Then Moses cried out to the LORD, “What should I do with these people? They are ready to stone me!”  5  The LORD said to Moses, “Walk out in front of the people. Take your staff, the one you used when you struck the water of the Nile, and call some of the elders of Israel to join you.  6  I will stand before you on the rock at Mount Sinai. Strike the rock, and water will come gushing out. Then the people will be able to drink.” So Moses struck the rock as he was told, and water gushed out as the elders looked on.  7  Moses named the place Massah (which means “test”) and Meribah (which means “arguing”) because the people of Israel argued with Moses and tested the LORD by saying, “Is the LORD here with us or not?”  8  While the people of Israel were still at Rephidim, the warriors of Amalek attacked them.  9  Moses commanded Joshua, “Choose some men to go out and fight the army of Amalek for us. Tomorrow, I will stand at the top of the hill, holding the staff of God in my hand.”  10  So Joshua did what Moses had commanded and fought the army of Amalek. Meanwhile, Moses, Aaron, and Hur climbed to the top of a nearby hill.  11  As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand, the Israelites had the advantage. But whenever he dropped his hand, the Amalekites gained the advantage.  12  Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands. So his hands held steady until sunset.  13  As a result, Joshua overwhelmed the army of Amalek in battle.  14  After the victory, the LORD instructed Moses, “Write this down on a scroll as a permanent reminder, and read it aloud to Joshua: I will erase the memory of Amalek from under heaven.”  15  Moses built an altar there and named it Yahweh-nissi (which means “the LORD is my banner”).  16  He said, “They have raised their fist against the LORD’s throne, so now the LORD will be at war with Amalek generation after generation.”

This passage reminds us that we are in a battle. The question I put to us today is this, “What banner do I wave when in the midst of the battle?”

Is it the banner that says, “The Lord Jehovah, Maker of Heaven and Earth, Mighty God!” ?

Or is the banner that says, “Waaaaaaah,  I’m in trouble and I don’t know what I’m gonna do. They’re tougher and meaner and I’m just lunch meat before them!” ?

From generation to generation the Lord, Jehovah will battle the minions of hell and generation after generation God wins.

Today, proclaim JEHOVAH-NISSI:  ”The Lord Our Banner.” God on the battlefield.

Can I Trust Him to Meet My Needs?

He gave us His Son. Why wouldn’t He meet our other needs?

Romans 8: 26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory. 31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? (NLT)

God gave His Son for us.  Focus today on JEHOVAH-JIREH: ”The Lord will Provide.”

What is your need? Is it spiritual, physical, emotional, or financial? Pray the model prayer and when you get to the point of, “Give us this day our daily bread” change it up a bit. Say, “JEHOVAH-JIREH, today meet our needs. God Who will provide, provide my needs and make me know the difference in needs and wants, especially those wants that if met would drive me from You. Today I choose to trust You, my provider, to work all things out for good and to meet my needs.”

He gave us His Son. Why wouldn’t He meet our other needs?

Know His Name, Know Him!

Psalm 9:1 I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart;  I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. 2 I will be filled with joy because of you.  I will sing praises to your name, O Most High. 3 My enemies retreated;  they staggered and died when you appeared. 4 For you have judged in my favor;  from your throne you have judged with fairness. 5 You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked;  you have erased their names forever. 6 The enemy is finished, in endless ruins;  the cities you uprooted are now forgotten. 7 But the Lord reigns forever,  executing judgment from his throne. 8 He will judge the world with justice  and rule the nations with fairness. 9 The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed,  a refuge in times of trouble. 10 Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.

“Trust” I’m still meditating on this little word and in my musings came across this passage. Look at vs 10 again. Throughout scripture each time God revealed one of His names He revealed a part of His character. So, to “know His name” is more than just being a casual acquaintance. It is to know who He is.

Today know Him as:
EL SHADDAI: God Almighty or “God All Sufficient.”

Psalm 23:1 A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

One little girl quoted it like this, “The Lord is my shepherd, that’s all I want.”

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are our all sufficiency. Bring this truth to roost in our knowers (the seat of our deepest beliefs).

In Christ our Lord,
AMEN
